Cloud Hosting (FAQs)
Have questions? We've got answers.
Our team is here to help with sales, billing and technical questions.
Contact us- What is Cloud Hosting?
Cloud hosting is a faster and more advanced form of shared hosting. You still get the simple, familiar cPanel to manage your website, but it is powered by cloud technology and runs on a full SSD server. The main advantage is that you can scale up your memory (RAM) and processor (CPU) resources when your website needs more power, instead of moving to a different server as your traffic grows.
- What is the difference between Cloud Hosting and Shared Hosting?
The difference is the technology that powers each product. Cloud hosting gives you everything shared hosting offers, plus the ability to scale your CPU and RAM, and an extra speed boost from an all-SSD server stack. Shared hosting has fixed resources and costs less, so it suits smaller sites, while cloud hosting suits websites that are growing or that have busy periods.
- What is SSD, and how is it different from the existing server?
An SSD (solid state drive) is a type of storage with no moving parts. It reads and writes data much faster than a traditional HDD (hard disk drive), which relies on spinning disks. For your website, faster storage means pages, images and database results are fetched more quickly, so your site loads faster for your visitors.
- What is Caching?
Caching stores a ready-made copy of your web pages so that they do not have to be built from scratch for every visitor. Pages are delivered much faster, and the server is not overloaded when traffic is high. We use NGINX Plus caching so that your visitors do not experience lag while your website loads.
- What is the limit for additional CPU and RAM?
You can add up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 8 CPU cores to any cloud hosting plan. Extra RAM helps your site handle more visitors at the same time, and extra CPU cores help with heavier work, such as a busy online shop. You can add these resources when you need them, rather than paying for them from day one.
- Is a Dedicated IP available?
A dedicated IP address can be purchased for an additional cost on the cloud hosting packages where it is offered. It is not available on every package. To check whether it is available for yours and to order one, please open a support ticket.
- How do I install an SSL certificate on my Website?
To install an SSL certificate on your cloud hosting, get in touch with our support team and we will install it for you. An SSL certificate encrypts the connection between your visitors and your website and shows the padlock in the browser. If you do not have a certificate yet, you can see the options on our SSL Certificates page.
- Do you provide any one click install scripts along with Cloud Hosting?
Yes. Cloud hosting includes Quick Install, which you open from your cPanel. It lets you install popular applications in a few clicks, including WordPress, Drupal and Joomla, shopping carts such as Zen Cart and Magento, and various billing, social networking, support and chat tools. You do not need to upload files or create databases by hand.
- Is Upgrade/Downgrade possible?
No, you cannot upgrade or downgrade from one cloud hosting plan to another. What you can do is buy additional RAM and CPU cores for your current plan whenever you need them, which covers most cases where a site needs more power. If you are not sure which plan to start with, contact us and we will help you choose.
- What is your backup policy?
You are responsible for your own backups and web content. We take our own weekly backups and can restore your website, email and database content from them if you ask us to. However, you should not rely on these alone to keep your content safe. We recommend making your own backups as well, either from your cPanel or, better still, with a remote backup service such as CodeGuard.
- Is there a Money Back Guarantee?
Yes. Cloud hosting comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you decide within the first 30 days that it is not right for you, contact our support team to request a refund.
